RIO DE JANEIRO, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Hugo Moura scored in the 97th minute to earn Vasco da Gama a 2-2 draw at Flamengo in Brazil's Serie A on Sunday.

Pedro opened the scoring for the visitors with an eighth-minute strike and former Chelsea midfielder Jorginho doubled the lead by converting a penalty on the hour.

Flamengo looked to be cruising until Robert Renan pulled a goal back with an 84th-minute header following Nuno Moreira's corner.

Moura equalized by meeting Carlos Cuesta's cross with a lunging header that beat goalkeeper Agustin Rossi at his far post.

"We were controlling the game but let them back into it," Pedro said after the match. "They started sending crosses into the box and made it difficult for us. Games like this are decided by small details and while we didn't get the result we wanted, we'll take what we can out of the match."

Flamengo remains second with 27 points, six behind leader Palmeiras and 10 ahead of 13th-placed Vasco.

In other Brazilian top flight fixtures on Sunday, Mirassol won 2-1 at home to Corinthians, Bragantino prevailed 2-1 at Chapecoense, Internacional won 2-0 at home to Fluminense and Sao Paulo was held to a 2-2 home draw by Bahia.
