Venezuela has been attacked by the US, as Washington is trying to gain control of the country's natural resources, the Latin American nation's foreign minister, Yvan Gil, has said.

Numerous videos have emerged on social media showing major explosions across the Venezuelan capital Caracas, sparking rumors of a US attack on the Latin American nation.

One of the clips appears to show what looks like several US Chinook military helicopters flying above the city.

CSB journalists reported, citing US officials, that President Trump has ordered strikes on Venezuelan military facilities. However, there has so far been no official confirmation from Washington.
