Colombian president arrives in Venezuela for bilateral agenda

CARACAS, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Colombian President Gustavo Petro arrived in Venezuela on Friday for talks aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Petro was received at Maiquetia International Airport by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil and is expected to meet Venezuelan acting president Delcy Rodriguez.

According to Venezuela's foreign ministry, the meeting seeks to strengthen regional integration and promote economic and trade ties between the two countries.

The visit marks the first official trip by a head of state to Venezuela since Rodriguez assumed the presidency on an interim basis.
