PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is interested in deepening cooperation with Chile and South American countries, President Vahagn Khachaturyan said during a working visit to Chile.

Khachaturyan met with the country's president-elect Jose Antonio Kast.

"I sincerely congratulate you on being elected president and wish you success. You are assuming a very responsible position during a period full of challenges, when important issues will need to be addressed.

Armenia has great interest in deepening cooperation with Chile and the countries of South America and in recent years has taken active steps in that direction," the Armenian president said.

Kast noted that Chile has undergone significant changes in recent decades.

"However, we maintain institutional and friendly relations with our partners and are also interested in strengthening relations with Armenia and launching new initiatives in areas of mutual interest," Jose Antonio Kast said.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed the general situation and developments in the South Caucasus, with Khachaturyan presenting details of ongoing processes in the region.

The interlocutors exchanged views on identifying new areas of cooperation and clarifying priority directions. In this context, they particularly highlighted the significant potential for cooperation in artificial intelligence and information technologies and the importance of fully realizing that potential to create an effective new platform for both countries.

At the end of the meeting, President Vahagn Khachaturyan invited Chile's president to visit Armenia.
