Urgent: 5.8-magnitude quake hits near coast of northern Peru -- GFZ

BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 jolted near the coast of northern Peru at 0251 GMT on Sunday, the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 9.02 degrees south latitude and 78.95 degrees west longitude.
