Renalt Duster 7 Seater Gets New Techno Mid Variant  First Look

Renault Boreal is available in three versions in Brazil Evolution, Techno and Iconic. Among these, Renault is expecting the highest sales contribution from the mid-spec Techno variant. With premium features, competitive pricing and customization options, the Boreal Techno variant has better capabilities to rival the likes ofJeep Compassand Corolla Cross. Lets take a closer look.

Renault Boreal Techno Key features

One of the USPs of Renault Boreal Techno variant is the option to customize according to ones needs and preferences. Users can choose an optional package that has a dual-tone paint with a black roof and a panoramic sunroof. These are priced at R$ 2,000 (Rs 33k) and R$ 8,000 (Rs 1.33 lakh), respectively.

With the complete kit, the Renault Boreal Techno variant price increases to R$ 209,990 (Rs 34.9 lakh). This is closer to but still less than the pricing of the top Iconic variant, priced at R$ 214,990 (Rs 35.73 lakh). However, the top variant has additional premium features such as a Harman Kardon sound system and drivers seat with massage function.

Excluding Nacre Black, there are additional charges for the other colour options. For example, the Glacier White colour will require buyers to pay an additional R$ 1,000 (Rs 16.6k). Other colour options Mercure Blue, toile Silver, Cassiope Grey, and Fire Red need an additional payment of R$ 2,000 (Rs 33k).

Boreal Techno variant Exterior profile

Key features of Boreal Techno variant include a body-coloured grille, new Renault logo and Y-shaped lighting elements. Side profile has blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in Continental PremiumContact C 205/55 tires. The ORVMs too have a black finish. At the rear, Boreal has sleek tail lamps in an interconnected format. This is something similar to some of Renaults European models such as the Megane E-Tech.

Renault Borealis based on the ultra-flexible CMF-B modular platform, also referred to as the RGMP platform (Renault Group Modular Platform). This platform can also be seen with the Kardian and will be used with the upcoming Niagara pickup truck in Brazil. Dimensionally, the Boreal is 4,550 mm long, 1,840 mm wide and 1,650 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. With an extra-large boot space of 586 litres, the Boreal leads against rivals like Jeep Compass (410 litres) and Toyota Corolla Cross (440 litres).

Boreal Techno variant interiors

Inside, one can notice premium aesthetics, soft touch materials on the dashboard and doors, and a dark theme. Users can set the perfect mood with the 48-colour ambient lighting. Both the driver and front passenger seats have power adjustability function. Other key highlights include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, OpenR Link multimedia system with Google Built-In, and a six-speaker sound system.

Safety kit is pretty robust with six airbags, parking sensors, rain sensors, all-four disc brakes and electronic parking brake with auto-hold. The Boreal Techno variant also has 19 ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist and blind spot monitoring.

Powering the Renault Boreal SUV is 1.3 TCe turbo flex engine that generates 163 hp and 270 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h takes 9.5 seconds. Top speed is limited to 180 km/h. Max fuel efficiency is 13.6 km/l when running on gasoline and 9.4 km/l with ethanol.

Renault Boreal India launch

It is expected that Renault will introduce the Boreal in India in the second half of 2026. Before that, theall-new Renault Dusterwill be launched in India on 26th January. While the Boreal is a 5-seater SUV in Brazil and Europe, it will be a 7-seater model in the Indian market. Renault Boreal in India will take on rivals such as Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari.
