BUENOS AIRES, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Miguel Merentiel struck in the first half as Boca Juniors continued their mid-season recovery with a 1-0 home win over Tigre in Argentina's Primera Division on Sunday.
The hosts went ahead in the 13th minute after Tigre goalkeeper Gonzalo Marinelli fumbled Sebastian Villa's innocuous corner and Merentiel was on hand to smash home at the near post.
Boca controlled the match thereafter to clinch their third victory in four games, rising to ninth in the 28-team standings with 27 points. Tigre dropped to 15th with 22 points so far.
Meanwhile, San Lorenzo's title hopes suffered a blow as Alexis Dominguez's first-half strike handed Barracas Central a 1-0 home victory over Ruben Insua's men.
San Lorenzo remain second with 35 points, five points behind leaders River Plate, who have a game in hand. Barracas Central are 16th with 22 points.
In other Primera Division fixtures on Sunday, Talleres Cordoba won 1-0 at home to Argentinos Juniors and Defensa y Justicia were held to a 1-1 home draw by Racing Club.
