BUENOS AIRES, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Tomas Muro scored late as Gimnasia climbed to the top of Argentina's Primera Division standings on Saturday with a 1-0 home win over Defensa y Justicia.

The 20-year-old midfielder broke the deadlock in the 78th minute with a superb volley after a failed defensive clearance.

Gimnasia is now one point clear of second-placed Newell's at the top of the 28-team standings, though the Rosario-based club has a game in hand. Defensa is 25th.

In Buenos Aires, Manuel Capasso's 18th-minute strike gave Atletico Tucuman a 1-0 away victory over Velez Sarsfield.

The result lifted Atletico Tucuman to fifth with 10 points from six matches, four points behind Gimnasia. Velez fell to 23rd with just five points from six games so far.

Elsewhere, Godoy Cruz won 1-0 at home over Colon, and Tigre was held 1-1 by Talleres Cordoba.
