RIO DE JANEIRO, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Reigning Copa Libertadores champions Palmeiras rose to second in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday with a 3-0 victory at Juventude.
Ze Rafael opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Rony doubled the lead just after the half-hour mark.
Rafael Forster gifted the hosts a third goal by turning the ball into his own net in second-half stoppage time.
The result leaves Palmeiras with 12 points from seven matches, one point behind leaders Corinthians, who have a game in hand. Juventude are 18th in the 20-team standings with six points.
In other Brazilian top flight fixtures on Saturday, Botafogo drew 1-1 at America Mineiro, Cuiaba were held to a 1-1 home draw by Internacional, Ceara drew 0-0 at Santos, Flamengo won 1-0 at home to Goias and hosts Atletico Goianiense defeated Coritiba 2-0.
