Capitals, SANA-The novel coronavirus has claimed the lives of more than 3 million and 825 thousand people worldwide since its outbreak in December 2019, according to the latest statistics by the American Worldometers website.

The website added that the total number of the coronavirus cases worldwide has reached up to 176,953,132 while the death toll has climbed to 3,825,401 and the recoveries have amounted to 161,061,403.

The US is still on top of the worst-hit countries by the virus in terms of the number of infections and deaths after recording 615,213 deaths out of 34,331,298 infections, while India comes in the second place with 377,061 deaths out of 29,570,035.

Meanwhile, Brazil comes in the third place with 488,228 deaths out of 17,452,612 infections.
