Live COVID-19 updates: Italy reports 19,347 cases

BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

ROME -- As many as 19,347 COVID-19 cases were reported in Italy on Tuesday, bringing the national tally to 1,620,901, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The active coronavirus infections here have been decreasing on a daily basis following restrictions imposed in early November to slow down the second wave of the pandemic.

BOGOTA -- Colombia reported 7,986 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 1,324,792, Colombian health authorities said Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 168 more deaths were reported, raising the nationwide count to 36,934, National Institute of Health said, adding that 1,217,647 people have so far recovered from the disease.

MADRID -- Spain reported 8,257 new coronavirus cases, bringing the national tally to 1,656,444, the country's health ministry said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 442 more COVID-19 deaths were recorded, taking the death toll to 45,511, it said.

BEIJING -- China's National Health Commission said Wednesday that it received reports of nine newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Tuesday, including two domestically transmitted cases and seven imported ones.

All the domestically transmitted cases were reported in Inner Mongolia, the commission said in its daily report.
