NEW DELHI -- At least eight people were killed and over 30 others injured Saturday after a passenger bus overturned after skidding off the road and collided with a car in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The accident took place at village Baari Bujhia of Pilibhit district, about 260 km north of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. (India-Accident)

SANTIAGO -- The Chilean government on Friday voiced its confidence that the constitutional plebiscite scheduled for Oct. 25 will be safe and called for wide participation.

The plebiscite, which will decide whether to modify the constitution, is a way "to solve our differences through democracy and voting," said Chilean government spokesman Jaime Bellolio. (Chile-Plebiscite)

SAO PAULO -- Brazil reported 30,914 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the national tally to 5,200,300, said the health ministry on Friday.
